your marriage.
Marriage is marathon, a roller coaster, a lot of fun and really challenging. If your marriage is anything like ours, you have experienced some great joys and some real heart aches.
If you have ever questioned why you married your spouse, or wondered why God put you with “this person,” then you’re in the right spot.
an introduction...
Genesis 1:27
27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Genesis 2:24
24 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
But those who marry will face many troubles in this life…
God designed marriage as a life-long, covenant commitment between a husband and wife. This covenant relationship must be based on unconditional love for each other. However, we live in a very ‘conditional’ world, so we often operate with the wrong mindset in marriage toward our spouse.
Another challenge, as if you we needed one, is each partner is bringing their wounds, trauma’s, expectations, pains, and mis-perceptions to the marriage. You may not realize it at first, but when the pressures of life start pilling up these things rise to the surface.
One minute you’re on a much needed date night discussing life and the next minute you’ve said something that triggered an old wound and the date is ending in disaster. All this after nearly 20 years of marriage and 3 kids. (This may or may not have just happened to us personally :)
What are those hidden hurts in you or your spouse that God wants to heal? What are the lies you’ve come into agreement with the enemy about your own life or about your spouse that keep holding you back from a great marriage relationship?
The Lord wants to bring healing and freedom to your heart individually and in your marriage relationship. This is a lot of work, but so worth it and the legacy for your family will be immeasurable.
Here are some steps you can take to begin understanding how all this fits together.
